The Park
Kaziranga National park is one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites where world’s half one horned Rhinos roam regally. It is situated on the banks of Brahmaputra River in Assam covering a total area of 430 square kilometers. It is the ideal habitat for wildlife because of its vast stretches marshland, tall elephant grass and a dense tropical forest. Plentiful water in the park is another advantage for the convenient existence of wildlife. In 1908, when the poaching activity went limitless, Kaziranga was declared as a reserve. However, Wildlife sanctuary status was given to it in 1940 and the national park status in 1974.
